Position Summary
The Senior Director of Jewish Life is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for shaping, implementing, and advancing the MNjcc’s Jewish Life engagement strategy. This role focuses on building inclusive, meaningful, and accessible Jewish experiences; deepening community connections across diverse demographics; and creating sustainable pathways for Jewish identity, culture and learning. This senior leader serves as a key collaborator across departments and a thought partner to the Executive Team, ensuring that Jewish life thrives at the JCC in ways that are relevant, inclusive and resilient. All work within the organization ladders up to the strategic plan.
Schedule Information
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week/regular schedule.
- Evening and weekend work is required
- This position is an in-person role and required to work on site.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and lead a comprehensive and robust Jewish Life strategy aligned with the JCC’s mission, vision, and values.
- Identify emerging trends, needs, and opportunities within the Jewish community and integrate insights into program design and organizational priorities.
- Build frameworks that support resilience, belonging, and Jewish identity in today’s complex and rapidly evolving environment.
Program Development & Implementation
- Oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of a rich suite of programs, events, and initiatives focused on Jewish culture, learning, holidays, ritual, arts, and Israel programming.
- Ensure programming and initiatives are pluralistic, inclusive, and available for diverse backgrounds, identities, and abilities.
- Develop initiatives that span life stages and demographics—families, teens, young adults, interfaith households, older adults, newcomers, etc.
- Create sustainable program models that balance impact, resources, and long-term growth.
- Identify innovative opportunities and lead programmatic initiatives that elevate the member experience and expand organizational impact.
Community Building & Relationship Development
- Cultivate strong relationships with members, partner organizations, synagogues, schools, and community leaders.
- Foster a sense of belonging, connection, and shared purpose across all segments of the community.
- Serve as a connector and convener, strengthening collaborative opportunities across the Jewish ecosystem.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Recruit, supervise, and mentor staff, educators, and facilitators delivering Jewish related initiatives.
- Model teamwork, communication, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Thought Leadership & Representation
- Bring contemporary Jewish educational expertise and thought leadership to the organization.
- Serve as a representative of the MNjcc in community forums, coalitions, and partnerships related to Jewish Life.
- Contribute to staff learning and development on Jewish content, culture, Israel and pluralism.
Operational & Administrative Oversight
- Manage budgets, grants, partnerships, and reporting related to Jewish Life.
- Ensure programs meet quality, safety, accessibility, and inclusion standards.
- Track outcomes, impact, and community needs to inform ongoing improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced knowledge of Jewish culture, history, lifecycle, ritual, holidays, and contemporary issues—including familiarity with a wide spectrum of Jewish identities and practices.
- Deep understanding of Israel, its history, culture, people, and current dynamics is an asset.
- Minimum 7–10 years' experience in Jewish communal leadership, experiential education, programming, or related fields.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, program development, and sustainable initiatives.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive environments.
- Strong relationship building, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience supervising teams, budgets, and partnerships.
- Creative, adaptable, and mission-driven, with the ability to navigate sensitive topics with care and confidence.

Salary and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $85,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience.
