Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) is a non-profit human rights organization committed to countering racism and antisemitism and to promoting the principles of tolerance, social justice and Canadian democratic values through advocacy and education.

To harness this growth and expand fundraising capacity, FSWC is introducing a newly created role of Manager, Development & Donor Relations. This leader will bring additional process, strategy, thought leadership and donor focused expertise to a committed entrepreneurial team, helping to deepen existing donor relationships and diversify revenue. The Manager will also assume leadership of volunteer management for FSWC’s highly engaged and sophisticated Board Fundraising Committee.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • In collaboration with the CEO, Senior Director of Marketing & Development and other members of the fundraising and leadership team, help formulate the goals, strategies and processes, and tactical plans for fundraising for the organization.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with the Fundraising Committee of the Board in order to effectively engage, organize, support and maximize their efforts in peer-to-peer solicitation.
  • Serve as a major gift fundraiser. Develop and manage a portfolio of corporate and individual donors as the primary relationship manager.
  • Manage and support fundraising activities. Develop donor solicitation and continued engagement strategies, preparing effective briefing notes and other fundraising materials.
  • Develop and advance donor recognition and stewardship strategies. Engage in stewardship of existing partners, sponsors and donors, creating positive and enduring relationships.
  • Liaise with team members across the organization to assess fundraising needs and identify opportunities.
  • Plan and execute fundraising projects, events and campaigns.
  • Build track and assess fundraising metrics, identify strategies for additional success. Foster the growth of best practices and process in fundraising.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of four years of recent relevant fundraising experience including major gift, peer-to-peer and events.
  • Demonstrated success increasing revenue and securing funding from multiple sources.
  • Exceptional process management and organization skills. Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, thorough attention to detail and follow through.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with natural ability to exert influence, develop personal and effective working relationships, and inspire confidence and trust with donors, leaders and stakeholders.
  • Experience organizing, training and motivating volunteers.
  • Superior listening skills and the ability to interpret the concerns and interests of donors and translate them into attractive opportunities for investment.
  • Experience working within the Toronto Jewish community is a distinct asset.
