Each year, UJA’s Annual Campaign raises around $70 million to support vital programs in our community, both locally and globally. From inspiring Jewish pride, addressing Jewish poverty, countering antisemitism, and enhancing Jewish security, these gifts help ensure the ongoing strength of Jewish Toronto. Over the last four years, volunteer fundraisers brought in an average of $18 million for the Annual Campaign—making them an essential part of our community’s strength.

UJA would not be able to support as many community organizations as it does without volunteer fundraisers. They are the face of UJA to many in our community—engaging with fellow community members, inspiring generosity, and championing the power of giving.

WHAT IS A VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISER?

Volunteer fundraisers are a core part of UJA’s Annual Campaign. They are UJA donors, who in addition to giving money also donate their time, effort, and energy to advocate for UJA—engaging with community members, encouraging their generosity, and helping build a stronger, more resilient Jewish Toronto. Through the power of their collective action, they raise millions of dollars annually in support of the programs and agencies that address our community’s greatest challenges.

HOW VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Since 2021, an average of 250 community members per year have donated their time as volunteer fundraisers

Each year, volunteer fundraisers help raise approximately 25% of the total dollars in UJA’s Annual Campaign

During the 2024 Annual Campaign, volunteer fundraisers raised more than $12 million to support and strengthen our community

VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISER FAQs

Q: What kind of time commitment is required as a volunteer fundraiser?

A: Being a volunteer fundraiser doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment! We ask that you commit two to four hours per month, setting aside slightly more time during our peak campaign season of September to December. You can contact your donor list when it’s convenient for you.

Q: What kind of training is provided to volunteer fundraisers?

A: We provide you with all the tools you need to succeed as a volunteer fundraiser. This includes running four one-hour training sessions with our fundraising team and giving you access to our fundraising resources portal.

Q: How am I assigned contacts to call?

A: Our professionals will provide you with a list of donors to call, you then have the flexibility to choose who you want to contact. You can choose to call people you know, people from your industry, or contacts new to you, all according to your comfort level.

Q: How much of a difference can I really make?

A: You can make a huge difference! Every contribution, no matter how small, adds up to make a big impact. Volunteer fundraisers help raise approximately 25% of the total dollars in UJA’s Annual Campaign each year.
