Making Jewish Education More Affordable Making Jewish Education More Affordable

WHAT OPTIONS DOES UJA OFFER FAMILIES SEEKING TUITION ASSISTANCE?

Strengthening Jewish identity and education is one of UJA Federation’s top priorities. Jewish education has a life-changing and lifelong impact on community members. A strong and diverse part-time school system enriches our community in countless ways. This is why we are committed to investing in tuition assistance, in concert with our partner schools, to ensure that children and teens throughout our community have an opportunity to experience a meaningful, high-quality Jewish education.

Like all Canadians, families in our community have been deeply affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to health concerns, many part-time school families have experienced serious financial challenges, including sudden job loss and reduction in working hours.

UJA Federation firmly believes that no Jewish child or teen should be cut off from essential Jewish experiences – including part-time school – because their parents are facing a financial crisis due to the pandemic. We anticipate that tuition assistance needs will grow by 50%, which is why we are working to increase investments in tuition relief this year, and why we have launched a new tuition assistance program to benefit families in need. This initiative is a core component of UJA’s Emergency Campaign for Community Resilience.
