Finance Assistant (Part-time Controller)

Camp Ramah in Canada is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant (Part-time Controller) to support our financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a mission-driven organization and has a strong foundation in accounting and financial management.

Location: Greater Toronto Area
Schedule: 24–32 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the chart of accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Monitor accounts receivable weekly
  • Make periodic bank deposits
  • Oversee payroll, including related government reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual filings (e.g., WSIB, T4, ROE, Canadian HST)
  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
  • Support the annual religious donation tax receipting process
  • Assist with processing and tracking scholarships

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance or accounting
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Financial literacy, including understanding of donation types (preferred)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources without error
  • Proven reliability, diligence, and strong work ethic
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (required)
  • Familiarity with donation management systems (e.g., eTapestry) is an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Must reside in the Greater Toronto Area
  • English fluency required
