A modern interpretation of the story of Abraham and Isaac tracing the struggles of one Israeli family. With a rigid adherence to religious tenets, a rabbi leads a life completely devoted to God, until family tragedy forces him to re-evaluate his beliefs against the well-being of his family. “Heartbreakingly tender,” (The New York Times) My Father,My Lord is a visually-stunning allegory that also features a mesmerizing performance by the late Assi Dayan.
Special Guest: Dr. Gabriel Citron will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterward
Gabriel Citron is the Ray D. Wolfe Postdoctoral Fellow at the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on conceptions of God, the nature of religiosity and religious belief, and the thought of Ludwig Wittgenstein.
