Lecture by Paul Michaels
Israel: Who Are Its Friends, Who Are Its Foes?

We will discuss: Iran as Israel’s greatest threat in Syria and in Lebanon, and its support of Islamic Jihad in Gaza; Russia’s role as supportive of both Israel and Iran; Iran’s “Shia Crescent” stretching from Iraq to the Mediterranean vs. the Sunni Arab states; Egypt and Jordan, both of whom rely on Israel for strategic intelligence; and hostility from Turkey - what does its “peace treaty” with Israel mean?

Guiding us through the labyrinth and quagmire of the Middle East, Paul Michaels is the Director of Research and Media Relations for CIJA, and acts as liaison between the organized Jewish communities of Canada and the media on Canada-Israel matters and Jewish affairs in Canada.
