Every year we read the "Scroll of Esther" or the "Megillah" on the holiday of Purim. It is a tale of political intrigue, personal vengeance and brilliant strategy. In 2010 Laya Crust was commissioned to scribe and illuminate a Megillah. She will speak about the orthodox attitude to women doing sofrut for a Megillah, the tradition of illuminated Megillot, and the story behind some of the extremely unique imagery she used. Laya will bring a full sized (10 1/2 feet long) copy of the Megillah for viewing. Megillot will be available for purchase.
