Harold Lederman Award for Philanthropic Leadership


This award, named for Harold Lederman z”l, is presented by UJA’s Past Chairs Council to an outstanding philanthropic leader and volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and achievement of innovative approaches to challenges in the community. Harold, driven by a keen social conscience and strong support for Jewish communal life, believed in the importance of continuity. His message to future generations was to be responsible, a legacy of a real philanthropic leader.

Glennie Lindenberg


Glennie Lindenberg is a longstanding and outstanding volunteer at UJA Federation. For over four decades, she has demonstrated exceptional generosity and leadership. Glennie has held various roles, including Co-Chair of the UJA Centennial Campaign, UJA Federation Board member, Social Services Committee member, Jewish Foundation Board of Trustees member, and most recently, Chair of the new Toronto Holocaust Museum – for which she led a hugely successful fundraising campaign. Thanks to Glennie’s extraordinary work, the fundraising goal was achieved and exceeded, and the museum is set to open in the spring of 2023.

 

Glennie, who has always been passionate about ensuring a strong and thriving Jewish community today and into the future, continues to canvass annually for the UJA Campaign, no matter how time-consuming her other volunteer commitments might be. She is also the incoming Treasurer of UJA’s Board of Directors.

 

Glennie is a successful lawyer in Toronto, graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1976 and called to the Bar in 1978. She and her husband, Nathan Lindenberg, practiced law together for 40 years. They have been married for 45 years and are the proud parents/parents-in-law of Ira and Sarah Lindenberg, Joanna Lindenberg and Adam Weizman, and grandparents of six grandchildren.
