Be a part of our community of giving

To address the most pressing needs facing Toronto's Jewish community, UJA Mobilization is building a robust and dynamic volunteer network to give their time, dollars, and leadership.

How we work

Hands raising Collaborate

We prioritize a culture of giving, innovation, and inclusivity as we work with community members and partner agencies to address urgent challenges in our community.

people sticking together Transform

Driving change is no easy feat, but with such dedicated community members, we have seen the effect giving back can have on Toronto’s Jewish community through year-round initiatives and events.

When it comes to tackling the issues facing our community, we are fortunate to be able to rely on our vast network of volunteers to not only give their time, but also donate financially—no matter the amount.

We also work to help our network evolve as future Jewish leaders in the community, whether that’s through meeting new people, gaining valuable experiences, or joining committees.

Ways to engage

Our initiatives focus on UJA’s strategic priorities. We mobilize the community to address needs in areas related to poverty, countering antisemitism, Jewish identity, Israel, and mental health.

Ready to get involved? UJA has initiatives running all year, so it is always a good time to get in touch!
Here are a few examples of our programs and events:

UJA Business Network

UJA Genesis Business Network

The UJA Business Network is a group of professionals who wish to connect their businesses with their drive to support the community. Members can give back in a variety of ways– such as hands-on volunteering, sponsoring an initiative, donating products or services, or contributing their company’s expertise. Members also gain access to networking events and employee engagement opportunities.

ONE-ON-ONE: A MENTORSHIP INITIATIVE

This program is designed to connect industry leaders with post-graduate students or young professionals, in order to provide insights and clarity from those more experienced to those in the early stages of their careers.

52 WEEKS OF FOOD

With the current food insecurity crisis, our newest initiative is to keep kosher food banks stocked for the whole year. Community members can get involved by running a food drive at their home, collecting grocery gift cards, or sponsoring a week financially.

THE LITTLEST VOLUNTEER

This annual program has been running for several years now and is always a huge success. Generations of families come together to help the community in many different ways—through at-home activities and then together at our big community celebration.

Living Room Legacies

LIVING ROOM LEGACIES

This is an innovative and profound way to experience the legacies of Holocaust survivors through recorded testimony. Hosted in people’s homes, Living Room Legacies is a meaningful opportunity to learn our history and partake in dialogue about contemporary manifestations of antisemitism.

Israel in Focus: High School Community Program

ISRAEL IN FOCUS

Students will engage with an e-learning platform where they will go through the curriculum on their own time. Topics and activities are designed for high school students to gain a deeper understanding of how Israel connects to the Jewish community in Toronto.

Walk volunteers with the flag of Israel

WALK WITH ISRAEL

Since 1970, UJA has been running the Walk with Israel to raise funds for our partner cities in Israel and help Israelis experiencing vulnerability. Volunteering for the Walk has always been a vital piece of the event—it’s a great way to support our community and is the perfect opportunity for high school students to obtain community service hours.
