Our
security
matters.

There is nothing more important than the security of our community.

That is why we are assisting synagogues in adopting appropriate precautions, following clear procedures, and maintaining a healthy sense of vigilance. This enables all of us to gather in worship for the High Holidays in greater security and confidence.

Synagogues across Toronto are working closely with UJA Federation of Greater Toronto’s Community Security team to ensure that we follow best practices and benefit from expert advice. UJA’s Community Security team also enables community-wide security coordination by connecting with law enforcement and Jewish institutions throughout the city.

UJA’s Community Security team advises congregants to adhere to the following over the High Holidays:

  • Use only designated doors when entering or exiting our synagogue
  • Follow security procedures (such as bag checks)
  • Do not let other people into our synagogue. This is the role of security guards and designated volunteers. Please notify them ASAP if you witness an unknown person attempting to enter the building
  • Be aware of your surroundings while on the premises and while walking near our synagogue. If you witness a person, vehicle, or bag that appears out of place, notify the closest security guard or volunteer ASAP
  • In the event of a security or medical emergency, please notify the closest security guard or volunteer ASAP
  • If you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. Trust your instincts and notify a security guard or volunteer ASAP if you witness anything suspicious

Thank you for doing your part
to keep us all secure during the High Holidays.
