The OHR Network: UJA's Mentorship Program

“The most important forms of leadership come not with position or title…but with the willingness to work with others to achieve what we cannot do alone. It helps change people into people who can change the world.” — Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks zt"l

The Ohr Network is UJA’s relaunched mentorship program.

Meaning “light” in Hebrew, this program is designed for mentors to act as guiding lights for their mentees, especially within the Jewish community. Ohr also represents the opportunities, help, and resources that established professionals will provide to those at the beginning of their careers or those looking for a change.

Why this program? Because UJA is the ideal conduit for professionals at any stage to build connections rooted in shared Jewish values and experiences.

How it works:

  • Once a mentor and mentee are matched, each will be provided with a program manual that will include expectations, goal setting ideas, meeting tips, and more.
  • There will be two in-person networking events in Toronto for all mentors and mentees—one at the beginning of the program (September 16, 2025) and one at the end (January 2026—exact date to be confirmed).
  • On their own time, mentors and mentees will connect for at least three one-on-one meetings (virtual or in person).
  • Communication between the pairs can consist of advice on career development, different ways to engage in the Jewish community, resources for professional development, etc.

Our goal is to create meaningful matches based on factors such as industry, education, and interests. While we will do our best to pair all applicants, matches are not guaranteed. Participants will be notified by email if and when a match is made.

Please apply by Thursday, August 21!
