843 Days: The Hope We Wore
On October 7, 2023, the Jewish world stopped. Our hearts broke and the grief was overwhelming. Yet, as we have done throughout history, we transformed anguish into action. For 843 days, yellow ribbons and hostage tags expressed our community’s solidarity with the hostages and their families—and our enduring hope for their safe return. When the wait was finally over, UJA invited members of the community to donate these symbols to become part of two commemorative pieces of artwork that will preserve this chapter of our shared history and reflect the resilience that carried our community forward through profound pain. You can still be part of this lasting tribute. Learn more about how making a gift of just $18 can help bring these community memorials to life and preserve their message for future generations.
We still need additional hostage tags and pins to help complete one of the pieces. If you have any to donate, you can drop them off at the Lipa Green Centre during business hours until Friday, July 24.
