The Toronto Police Hate Crime Unit is investigating after a synagogue in North York was struck by gunfire late Monday night. Officers responded to Temple Emanu-El, located just south of Highway 401 near Bayview Avenue, following reports of shots fired. No injuries were reported, but police confirmed damage to the building. The shooting happened shortly after congregants had left a Purim celebration.
UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) released a joint statement in response.
