Ontario Government Announces Funding to Strengthen Safety at Summer Camps

Thanks to the hard work of UJA, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA)—UJA's advocacy agency—and in close collaboration with the Ontario Camps Association, the Government of Ontario has announced a $600,000 investment through the Anti-Hate Security and Prevention (AHSP) grant to enhance safety at Jewish summer camps. This funding will help strengthen community-led security measures to safeguard campers and staff across the province. For generations of Jewish families, summer camp has been a key gateway to Jewish identity and belonging, where children build lifelong friendships, deepen their connection to Jewish life, and gain confidence that lasts well beyond summer. UJA's Chief Program Officer Daniel Held said: "This significant funding announcement for our camping community is an important step toward ensuring that camps can continue to provide safe, welcoming environments for children, staff, and their families.”
