On Yom HaShoah, Canadian Jewish Communities Gathered in Commemoration, Here at Home and in Poland
No matter where Canadians were on Yom HaShoah, they came together to honour the memory of the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust and to pay tribute to survivors. In Poland, more than 7,000 participants, including Holocaust survivors and a Toronto delegation, gathered for the March of the Living at the site of Auschwitz. Led by 50 survivors, the march transformed a place once defined by death into a powerful symbol of memory, resilience, and continuity, underscoring the responsibility to carry their stories forward.
On the eve of Yom HaShoah, UJA’s Toronto Holocaust Museum hosted a moving commemoration, featuring survivor testimony, candle lighting, and musical performances, while remembering those who passed away over the last year.
