Thousands to Walk with Israel

The Walk with Israel kickoff party begins at 9 am, Coronation Park (on Lakeshore just east of Strachan and the CNE Prince’s Gates) and the Walk departs promptly at 10 am (rain or shine) along the waterfront and through the downtown core. After the Walk, festivities continue at the RioCan Festival, Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place.

This year’s walk will also mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Israel. Greetings will be delivered by Conservative Cabinet Minister Peter Kent, Liberal MP Ken Dryden and NDP MP Olivia Chow at the opening festivities.

“Today, Israel’s right to exist is under attack and worldwide anti-Semitism is a deepening concern.  UJA’s Walk With Israel is a strong response to these disturbing trends, demonstrating, in large numbers, our community’s support for Israel and her exceptional contributions to the world, ” said David Koschitzky, UJA Federation Board Chair.

This year, early online registration has increased by close to 30%, and sponsorship for the Walk with Israel has increased by close to 25%.
