Third Shooting at Bais Chaya Mushka School

Overnight, the Bais Chaya Mushka School for Girls in North York was struck by gunfire for the third time in recent months. While no one was physically harmed and the school was ultimately able to welcome students today, the building once again suffered property damage.

Toronto Police Service is at the scene and investigating this serious crime. The Jewish Security Network is also on site to gather information, assist the school's staff, and liaise with police. We are also in ongoing communication with law enforcement about a large, community menorah that was knocked down last night in North York.

As we assess the implications of these latest incidents for the security of our community, we are updating Jewish institutions across the GTA about the situation and the critical need for vigilance.

We stand in solidarity with the staff, students, and families of Bais Chaya Mushka, and reaffirm that an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. As a community, our response must be one of mutual support, heightened awareness, and smart actions. To volunteer or learn more about the Jewish Security Network's training opportunities, please connect with us.

We remind all community members of the importance of rapidly reporting any suspicious activity or incidents. In an emergency, call 911. When safe, please contact our 24/7 hotline without delay at 416-635-5600.

At times like this, it can be tempting to turn inward as a community. But this is a moment for all of us to be vocal in warning our fellow Canadians about the dangers we are facing—and about the threat this poses to our entire country.

Thank you and Shabbat Shalom,

The Jewish Security Network of Greater Toronto
