The Kiever Synagogue

We are continuing to plan for the upcoming High Holidays and welcome all who wish to join us. We are determined to protect the health of our congregants and fellow Torontonians, and we fully support those who choose to be prudent and stay away from services this year. All services will be conducted in accordance with provincial health guidelines, and we have also scheduled stand-alone Shofar Blowing and Yizkor services for those who wish to attend those only. Please see https://www.kievershul.com/HH_2020_schedule.pdf for a full schedule of services.

We need to track the number of people who can be inside the building, which is necessary to maintain safe physical distancing as well as for contact tracing should it be necessary. (Note that masks will also be required.) It is mandatory, therefore, that you register for services by clicking here. This link will take you to a form, where each individual person should add their own name and check the appropriate boxes. We hope that we will be able to accommodate all who wish to come; we will keep this registration open until September 10 or until we reach 70 people per service, whichever comes first.  We will be in further contact with all who register as the holidays approach.

Please note that should changing provincial guidelines demand, we may be required to cancel services altogether at any time.

The First Narayever Congregation
187 Brunswick Ave.

This new year feels so much more hopeful than last because so many of us have been vaccinated, and many Covid restrictions have been relaxed as a result. Nevertheless, the virus is still circulating, and congregations are still operating under special public health regulations designed to keep everyone safe. Among these regulations are capacity limitations and social distancing requirements for in-person gatherings. With the Miles Nadal JCC unavailable again this year we can only offer in-person seating to our members, but are thrilled to be able to offer non-members the opportunity to live-stream our High Holiday services from home.

Participate through our pay-what-you-can registration by following this link: www.narayever.ca/high-holidays

  • Enjoy live-streamed services led by Rabbis Edward Elkin and David Weiss that follow a traditional High Holiday liturgy as found in the Conservative Lev Shalem machzor. All services will be abbreviated but will still contain the familiar and key prayers for the Days of Awe and are sure to be beautiful, meaningful and inspiring.
  • Enjoy live-streamed Family Services featuring the warm, inviting leadership of Sabrina Friedman and parent volunteers, in the style that families have come to love. These services are intended for families with children ages 11 years and under.
  • Rabbi Edward Elkin will deliver his cherished and thought provoking sermons.
  • A full complement, beyond the services, of engaging programs tailored to adults, families, and children are available to all those who register.

We wish everyone a Healthy, Happy and Peaceful New Year.  Shana Tova.
