Professor Ronni Gamzu

Prof. Ronni Gamzu serves as General Director of the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), the largest acute care facility in Israel. Prof. Gamzu's medical career began in the army, where he enrolled in a paramedic's course completely by chance and fell in love with the medical world. He graduated from Tel Aviv University where he attained the rank of Professor of Gynecology and Associate Professor of Public Health and Health & Business Administration. He also attained two Master's degrees in Business and Health Administration and a BA in Law.

Prof. Gamzu served as Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Health. During the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, he established, with great success, the “Mothers and Fathers Shield” project to protect the senior population. In the summer of 2020, Prof. Gamzu was nominated for the post of National Coronavirus Project Manager (Israel’s “Corona Czar”). He served in this position for four months, after which he returned to run the Medical Center.
