As Nowruz approaches on March 20, the Jewish community of Toronto is coming together to prepare and share Ajil with our Persian neighbours.
Ajil — a traditional mix of nuts and dried fruit — symbolizes abundance, sweetness, and hope for the year ahead. In Jewish-Persian homes it is served generously to welcome guests and mark moments of celebration.
Through this initiative, we aim to offer a meaningful gesture of solidarity, cultural respect, and shared humanity during a difficult time.
Volunteers will help pack Ajil packages, which will then be distributed respectfully through Persian-owned businesses, community networks, and at appropriate public gatherings around Nowruz.
