Antisemitism, or discrimination and hate towards Jewish people, is considered one of the world’s oldest forms of hatred. Its evolution over the centuries, in particular the last 100 years has made it more difficult to identify, understand, and combat. Antisemitic incidents have skyrocketed globally in the wake of October 7th and the ensuing war, with Canada’s number of antisemitic incidents more than doubling from 2022 to 2023, putting it at an all-time high. The insidious nature of antisemitism, as with many forms of discrimination and hatred, can be severely detrimental to its target’s mental health and wellbeing. Yet, many who interact with Jews report a lack of knowledge and accompanying discomfort in addressing issues around antisemitism with Jewish clients, coworkers, and/or friends.

This webinar is aimed to help caregiving professions understand what antisemitism is, how it manifests, and its impact on the Jewish community. This training, grounded in a social justice lens, will equip participants with the tools needed to identify antisemitism and support clients experiencing antisemitism through trauma-informed care. Attendees will be empowered to confidently identify antisemitism, reflect on antisemitic biases, and cultivate their social justice advocacy to be inclusive of all.
