JRCC Cares is a program within the Jewish Russian Community Centre that provides social services to those in need. Through a variety of different programs, including furniture donations, food bank services, and senior assistance, we support members of our community in establishing safe and healthy homes.

JRCC Furniture Depot
The JRCC Furniture Depot was started in 1985 as a community network to connect those in need of furniture and those seeking to donate used items. Today, the Furniture Depot has expanded to a full warehouse and provides thousands of items to households in need, on a yearly basis. It is an environmentally-friendly and charitable way to provide furniture items like mattresses, tables, and chairs to those who are establishing new homes, like newcomers to Canada or women transitioning out of women’s shelters.

The Furniture Depot is now the second-largest furniture depot in Canada, with a service area that includes over four million residents. We collaborate with over 60 social service agencies across the GTA to provide free furniture to those in need. Since 2014, we have served just under 14,000 clients, and close to 4,500 households, the vast majority of whom live below the poverty line. Please note that intake is by referral only.

Kosher Food Bank
The JRCC’s Kosher Food Bank provides nutritious and culturally appropriate food to households in need. We provide regular food deliveries to families who are considered low-income and/or at-risk.

Food insecurity poses a serious risk to physical and mental wellness. Oftentimes, social assistance programs are not enough to ensure that households are able to secure healthy and nutritious food in the right quantities. The JRCC food bank was started as a way to support those who are most vulnerable by bringing them appropriate staple foods directly. Please note that intake is by referral only.

JRCC Social Services
JRCC offers and facilitates access to a variety of resources and social services. JRCC provides our in-need community members with assistance and referrals to education programs, events, and other supports. Additionally, JRCC offers services targeted at newcomers and seniors in online and other programming options. Other community support services the JRCC offers include tax clinics, legal consultations, and newborn services.
