Behind the Books: The Soer Family

Behind the Books offers a monthly behind the scenes glimpse into PJ Library Toronto's inner workings. This month, meet the Soers, a PJ family just like yours!

As a PJ Library Neighbourhood Connector, Casey looks forward to meeting Jewish families in her neighbourhood, just like yours!

Tell us about your family!

I live in Thornhill Woods with my husband Mark and our three sons, Leo (10), Billy (8) and Sam (4).

What is your kids' favourite PJ Library book?

Right now, we are all about Pesach, and our favourite book is RIVER RIDE (all my kids love it!)

What do you love most about your community?

I love how friendly my neighbours are and how close our community is, especially in Thornhill Woods and my kids’ school, Bialik, Himel Campus.

What is your favourite local activity?

Our favourite local activity is playing sports together at the SRC (in the gym) and watching my eldest son’s soccer games (he is on team Maccabi Canada), every Sunday.

What is your kids’ favourite local restaurant?

Hands down, Cafe Landwer, around the corner from our house.

Why did you want to become a Connector?

I am super passionate about connecting people, listening to their stories, and building a warm and welcoming community.

What is your favourite Jewish holiday?

I love Pesach. It brings our family and extended family together. I also love doing a big spring clean!
