Youth Engagement & After School Program Coordinator

Holy Blossom Temple (HBT) is seeking a full-time Youth Engagement & After School Program Coordinator to design, deliver, and grow dynamic youth programs for students in Grades 2–12, alongside leading a newly expanded 5-day per week After School Program (JK–Grade 4). This position reports to the Principal of Youth Education & Family Engagement.

This role is relationship-centered, with a strong focus on engaging and connecting with youth and families. The Coordinator serves as a key mentor, educator, and community builder within the Youth Education Centre (YEC). This is a full-time (~40 hours/week) position with a non-traditional and semi-flexible schedule. Onsite hours include Sunday mornings, occasional Sunday afternoons, and Monday evenings for YEC/Youth Group activities (September - May), and all school-day afternoons to 6pm for after-school programming (September - June). The balance of hours will depend on additional activities/meetings and can be flexible.

Key Responsibilities:

Youth Engagement & Programming

  • Design and lead engaging, age-appropriate programming for youth groups:
  • YEAH (Grades 2–5), JYG (Grades 6–7), and HABSTY (Grades 8–12)
  • Build meaningful relationships with youth, fostering leadership, community, and Jewish identity
  • Mentor and support HABSTY teen leaders in planning programs, setting goals, and building a strong peer community
  • Develop and oversee teen volunteer initiatives within HBT and the broader community
  • Contribute to holiday programming, community events, and YEC-wide initiatives
  • Assist in YEC weekly operations, assisting teachers, students and running activities and/or acting as a substitute teacher when needed

After School Program Leadership

  • Serve as the lead staff member and primary educator for the After School Program (JK–Grade 4), Monday - Friday
  • Design and implement a structured, engaging daily program including creative activities, and Jewish learning
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, including daily school pick-up
  • Build strong relationships with children & families, serve as a contact for parent communication

Operations, Communication & Collaboration

  • Manage logistics, budgeting, and promotion of youth programs and events
  • Lead communications and outreach to families, tweens, and teens across email, phone, social media, and other platforms
  • Collaborate with community partners (e.g., NFTY, Camp George, Ve’ahavta
  • Participate in occasional retreats, conferences, and off-site programs

Skills & Experience:

  • Passionate, energetic leader committed to youth engagement and community building
  • Experience working with children, tweens, and teens; strong mentorship and facilitation skills
  • Experience designing and leading children’s programming; classroom or informal education experience strongly preferred
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; comfortable engaging with parents and families
  • Social media savvy and confident in program promotion

Knowledge and familiarity with Reform Judaism as both a practice and as an organizational network, especially the GTA community, is an asset. Guitar playing, song leading and ability to read Hebrew also an asset. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and pass a criminal background check. A valid Ontario Driver’s license is an asset.

 Additional Information: 

  • This is a one-year full-time contract position beginning summer 2026, with possibility of extension.
  • Salary range for this full-time position is $44,000 to 49,000 annually.
