About Camp Ramah in Canada
Camp Ramah in Canada is a premier Jewish overnight camp located on beautiful Skeleton Lake in Muskoka, Ontario. For over 65 years, Ramah has been a place where campers of all abilities grow, learn, and experience the joy of Jewish community in a warm and inclusive environment.
Our Tikvah Program supports campers with disabilities and diverse learning needs, ensuring that everyone is valued, included, and able to fully participate in camp life — from swimming and sports to Shabbat celebrations and cabin life.
Position Overview
We are looking for fun, energetic, and compassionate leaders to join our Tikvah Staff team for Summer 2026! Tikvah Staff provide a safe and encouraging environment where youth with special needs are supported, valued, and given the opportunity to explore new experiences in a vibrant Jewish setting.
You will work as part of a dedicated team to assist a cabin of about ten campers in building independence, developing social skills, and forming meaningful connections — all while having an unforgettable summer yourself.
Key Responsibilities
1. Camper Support and Inclusion
- Provide individualized and group support for campers with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
- Foster independence, self-confidence, and community belonging.
- Help campers navigate daily routines and participate fully in camp activities.
2. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Tikvah Directors, Tikvah Rosh Edah (unit head), and fellow Tikvah counselors to ensure each camper’s success.
- Communicate regularly about camper progress, needs, and goals.
- Participate in training and team meetings to build skills and share insights.
3. Camp Life and Leadership
- Participate fully in camp activities, meals, and Shabbat experiences.
- Model enthusiasm, kindness, and inclusion in all areas of camp life.
- Create a fun, caring, and supportive environment for your campers and peers.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with youth, especially those with special needs.
- Experience in inclusion, education, recreation, or support work (an asset but not required).
- Patience, empathy, creativity, and a positive attitude.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
