At the Schwartz/Reisman Centre Early Childhood Education Centre, we believe childhood is where curiosity, confidence, and community begin. We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and caring Hebrew Teacher to join our team and help bring Hebrew language, Jewish culture, and meaningful learning experiences to life for our youngest learners. As a Hebrew Teacher, you will play an important role in shaping a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can grow cognitively, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. You will help foster a strong connection to Jewish identity while creating enriching Hebrew and Judaic experiences that inspire children and families alike.
What You’ll Do
- Observes and documents children's interests and plans lessons accordingly; expands on the children's learning based on the observation/documentation of the learning experiences. More specifically:
- In consultation with the ECE Director/Assistant ECE Director and other staff, leads planning of and implementation of age-appropriate programs to enhance the children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCYEA), the Early Learning for Every Child Today Framework and How Does Learning Happen and the SRC JCC Daycare & Preschool program philosophy (including Sheva).
- Incorporates Hebrew and Judaic learning experiences designed to meet the individual needs of the children and external therapeutic programs such as speech therapy, behavior guidance and physiotherapy etc. arranged by parents.
- Follows the Program Statement and provides a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment showing sensitivity to the individual needs of children and their parents in all aspects of early childhood development.
- Leads by example and is an excellent role model for staff and children.
- Knowledge and understanding of the ELECT framework and How Does Learning Happen an asset.
What You Bring
- Fluency in Hebrew (required)
- Passion for teaching, learning, and working with young children
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with children, families, and colleagues
- Understanding of child development and early years programming
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCYEA), ELECT Framework, and How Does Learning Happen is considered an asset
- A positive, caring, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children’s growth and development
- Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to changing classroom needs, and maintain a nurturing learning environment
