The Organizations
The Jewish Federation of Ottawa, through its collaborative community planning process and Annual Campaign, raises and allocates funds to provide life-saving, life-changing and life-enhancing experiences for Jews in Ottawa, Israel and around the globe. The Federation works to translate Jewish values into social action through four pillars: building, educating, helping, and supporting.
With almost $100 million in assets under management, the Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation provides donors with the opportunity to provide long-term financial support for Jewish Ottawa and actively promotes legacy giving and endowments.
Working seamlessly together, the organizations are committed to Jewish values and ensuring that future generations are engaged and educated.
The Opportunity
Jewish Ottawa is seeking an exceptional leader to help shape the future of Jewish life in Canada’s capital. Reporting jointly to the Boards of Jewish Federation of Ottawa and Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation, the President & CEO will serve as the community’s chief professional leader, public advocate and relationship builder. This individual will lead a period of organizational renewal and community growth while strengthening Jewish engagement, philanthropy, advocacy and collective impact.
The role presents a unique opportunity to lead one of Canada’s most engaged Jewish communities at a pivotal moment. As Canada’s capital, Ottawa provides a unique platform for advocacy and public leadership. With all three levels of government represented in the National Capital Region, the CEO has the opportunity to build influential relationships, advance community priorities and help shape conversations affecting Jewish communities locally and nationally. In the wake of rising antisemitism, increasing demand for community connection and evolving philanthropic expectations, the next CEO will help unite diverse stakeholders, elevate Jewish Ottawa’s voice nationally, inspire confidence among donors and partners and position the community for long-term success. The incoming CEO will build on the organizations’ existing strengths while assessing opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness, deepen community engagement, grow philanthropic support and enhance the long-term sustainability and impact of Jewish Ottawa.
The ideal candidate will bring vision, courage, executive presence and exceptional relationship building skills. They will be equally comfortable engaging donors, government officials, community leaders, volunteers, staff and emerging generations of Jewish Ottawa.
The community welcomes interest from exceptional leaders whose experience has been gained both within and beyond the Jewish community sector. Jewish Ottawa is committed to a skills-based search and is seeking leadership capability, relationship-building excellence and community impact over traditional career pathways.
