Family & Community Engagement

  • Lead five one-hour Family Services during the High Holidays serving 200+ participants in total.
  • Plan and execute holiday programs—e.g., LatkeFest entertainment at Chanukah, Purim shpiel, Tot Shabbat, Sukkah build kickoff, and off-site field trips
  • Coordinate visits with local TDSB classes and other community outreach initiatives.

Position Details:

  • This is a part-time role running from September/October through May, with additional hours required around Jewish holidays.
  • Salary range $50-$80 per class hour commensurate with experience.
  • Potential to take on additional responsibilities in bar/bat mitzvah tutoring, adult education, or broader synagogue programming, based on interest and availability.
  • Supportive, collegial environment with mentorship from existing staff.

  • Author and maintain lesson plans and supply inventories.
  • Procure educational and event materials within budget.
  • Collaborate with the existing Teacher during a transition period.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education, Religious Studies, Early Childhood Education, or related field
  • Teaching certification an asset, but not required
  • Experience teaching Hebrew and Judaica in a synagogue or Jewish school setting.
  • Proven ability to engage children, adults, and families with ruach and creativity.
