
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto (BAYT) is Canada's largest Orthodox synagogue and the vibrant spiritual home of more than 750 member families. BAYT serves as a centre for prayer, learning, lifecycle events, community programming, youth activities, and Jewish engagement. We are seeking a warm, organized, and service-oriented Front Desk Administrator to serve as the welcoming face of our congregation and provide administrative support across the organization.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Administrator plays a key role in the daily operations of the synagogue. Reporting to senior leadership, this position is responsible for managing the front desk, assisting members, supporting clergy and staff, coordinating administrative functions, and ensuring smooth office operations.
This is a 37-hour-per-week, in-person position that requires exceptional customer service, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the welcoming first point of contact for members, guests, volunteers, and vendors.
- Manage phone, email, and front desk inquiries while providing exceptional member service.
- Provide administrative support to clergy, staff, and committees, including correspondence, mailings, and document preparation.
- Coordinate member communications, flyers, website updates, social media, and community correspondence.
- Support synagogue programs and events through registration, logistics, scheduling, and administrative coordination.
- Maintain office operations, including supplies, records management, building access systems, and vendor coordination.
- Assist with technology and digital content management, including online communications and media platforms.
- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the synagogue office and broader BAYT community.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of administrative or customer service experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with websites, social media platforms, and database systems.
- Familiarity with ShulCloud or synagogue management software is an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Professional, welcoming, and service-oriented approach.
- Experience in a synagogue, non-profit, community, or Jewish organizational setting is an asset.

Position Details
Location: BAYT – Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto
Schedule: 37 hours per week, primarily weekdays, with occasional evening or weekend support for special events as required.
