About the role

B’nai Brith Canada is seeking a senior, strategic, and results-oriented National Director of Fundraising to lead and grow all fundraising activity across the organization.

This role provides national leadership for fundraising strategy, planning, and execution. Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership, and regional teams, the National Director will ensure that fundraising efforts are coordinated, effective, and positioned for sustained growth. While fundraising activity may take place across different parts of the organization, this role serves as the central point of leadership, alignment, and performance oversight.

The successful candidate will bring both strategic clarity and hands-on execution, with the ability to build strong relationships, drive revenue, and establish a disciplined and scalable fundraising function.

Key responsibilities

National fundraising strategy and leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities
  • Establish annual and multi-year revenue goals across all fundraising streams
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and direction across all fundraising activity nationally
  • Monitor performance and adjust strategy to ensure consistent progress toward targets
  • Report regularly to the CEO and senior leadership on performance, pipeline, and opportunities

Revenue generation and donor development

  • Lead and grow all revenue streams, including:
    • Major gifts
    • Corporate partnerships and sponsorships
    • Foundations and grants
    • Annual and digital giving
    • Events and community-based fundraising
    • Planned and legacy giving (as appropriate)
  • Work across internal teams, and lead as appropriate, to secure sponsorships and other support for organizational initiatives, including sports leagues, thrift store operations, clothing bin programs, and food bank initiatives
  • Personally manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and high-potential prospects
  • Support senior leadership in donor cultivation and solicitation
  • Identify and develop new funding opportunities and donor segments

Events, galas, and campaigns

  • Oversee the strategy and execution of fundraising events, including galas, golf tournaments, fundraising events and national campaigns
  • Work with internal teams and external partners to elevate the quality, reach, and financial performance of events
  • Integrate events into broader donor development and stewardship strategies

Relationship development and network building

  • Leverage and expand a strong network of philanthropic, corporate, and community relationships
  • Bring an established base of connections and the ability to open doors and create new opportunities
  • Represent the organization externally with credibility and professionalism
  • Build long-term relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders grounded in trust and impact

Organizational integration

  • Work closely with marketing, communications, advocacy, and program teams to align messaging and fundraising opportunities
  • Translate organizational priorities and impact into compelling fundraising cases
  • Ensure consistency in donor experience and messaging across all channels

Systems, reporting, and operations

  • Oversee the use and optimization of the organization’s CRM system (DonorPerfect)
  • Prepare impact reports and stewardship materials for donor relations, sponsor engagement, and broader marketing use
  • Ensure accurate tracking of donor activity, pipeline development, and revenue performance
  • Establish clear reporting structures and dashboards for leadership and Board-level visibility
  • Implement and maintain best practices in data management, stewardship tracking, and donor communications
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and ethical fundraising standards

Team development and future growth

  • Build and shape the fundraising function over time, including identifying future staffing needs
  • Provide leadership and direction to any future fundraising staff
  • Work effectively with regional teams, volunteers, and committees to support fundraising efforts while maintaining overall coordination and strategic alignment

Qualifications and experience

  • 10+ years of senior fundraising leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and growing revenue across multiple channels
  • Experience overseeing events, galas, and large-scale fundraising initiatives
  • Strong familiarity with CRM systems; experience with DonorPerfect is a significant asset
  • Proven ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies with measurable results
  • Established relationships within philanthropic, corporate, or community networks, with the ability to cultivate new opportunities
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with senior leadership, boards, and volunteers
