
KACHOL LAVAN TEACHER
Kachol Lavan is a unique Hebrew Supplementary School of the Schwartz/ Reisman Centre (SRC), and Prosserman JCC (PJCC) supported by UJA Federation of the Greater Toronto, which serves the educational, cultural and spiritual needs of the Israeli community by providing a wide range of innovative Israeli/Jewish supplementary education programming for children 3-13 years old.
Kachol Lavan focuses on Hebrew language acquisition and preservation, Israeli culture, Jewish tradition and heritage, knowledge of Israel and holiday celebrations through an experiential, dynamic and valuable curriculum in an Israeli atmosphere!
We are looking to expand our Kachol Lavan Team for the 2026/27 school year with 3 more qualified, engaging, committed and dynamic part-time teachers:
- Middle school Hebrew Teacher
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Running from September to May, Kachol Lavan offers unique Hebrew for Hebrew speakers programming for Preschool to grade 7 students on Sunday mornings at 2 easy to reach locations in the GTA: Thornhill @ the Schwartz/Reisman Centre, mid-town @ the Prosserman JCC. The position is available at Prosserman JCC
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Kachol Lavan teachers will embrace our Vision and provide exceptional education and programs to our students, including:
- Following lesson outlines and guides provided, implement creative, innovative, theme-based and age-appropriate lessons.
- Engage the students and foster a positive learning experience and outcome.
- Track student attendance and communicate with parents regularly and keep them informed and involved in their child’s progress.
- Provide comprehensive reports according to Kachol Lavan leveled success criteria twice a year.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Volunteer for at least 1 JCC community event.
- Be a positive ambassador and role model and inspire students and families.
KEY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Fluent Hebrew.
- University degree.
- Israeli teaching certification
- Minimum two years teaching experience in Israel and/or Canada.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, Israel and community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: great attitude, warm, friendly, flexible and positive “can-do’ attitude.
- Ability to develop and deliver interactive and engaging classes.
- Ability to communicate well with parents, via phone, email and in-person.
- Punctual, responsible, team-worker.
