About Camp Ramah in Canada
Camp Ramah in Canada is a vibrant Jewish overnight camp located in Muskoka, Ontario. For over 65 years, Ramah has inspired generations of campers to live joyful Jewish lives through experiential learning, meaningful community, and a deep connection to Hebrew language, Israel, and Jewish values.
Position Overview
Camp Ramah in Canada is seeking passionate Jewish educators to join our Jewish Education Department for Summer 2026. Our educators bring Jewish learning to life through dynamic, creative, and relevant programming for campers in Grades 2–10, as well as for our staff through our ongoing limmud (learning) sessions.
Educators can specialize in a range of areas — including Hebrew language, Israel education, tefillah (prayer), and Judaic studies — and will have the opportunity to teach, facilitate discussions, and create innovative learning experiences within our warm and spirited camp community.
We welcome applicants for short-term (1–2 weeks) or full-summer (8 weeks) positions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Educational Programming
- Develop and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate sessions for campers in Grades 2–10.
- Lead experiential programs in areas such as Hebrew, Israel, tefillah, Jewish values, holidays, and contemporary issues.
- Design lessons and activities that reflect Ramah’s commitment to joyful, experiential Jewish learning.
2. Staff Learning (Limmud)
- Contribute to ongoing limmud opportunities for staff, including text study, discussion-based learning, and informal educational experiences.
- Collaborate with other educators and senior staff to foster a camp-wide culture of learning.
3. Community Engagement
- Serve as a role model for Jewish living and leadership within camp life.
- Participate in Shabbat and weekday camp activities, contributing to the spiritual and communal atmosphere of camp.
- Work collaboratively with educational leadership and fellow educators to ensure consistency, creativity, and impact across programs.
Qualifications
- Background in Jewish education, informal or formal (e.g., day school teacher, rabbinical student, Jewish studies or Israel educator, campus educator, etc.)
- Strong knowledge base in Hebrew language, Israel, Jewish texts, and/or Jewish values
- Experience teaching or leading groups of children, teens, or young adults
- Ability to make Jewish learning engaging, relevant, and inspiring
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Enthusiasm for camp life and informal Jewish education
