Job Type: Part-Time Position

Wage: $40–$60 hourly (based on experience)

Location: Prosserman JCC – 4588 Bathurst Street, North York, ON (Bathurst/Sheppard Area) and/or Schwartz/Reisman Centre (Bathurst/Rutherford Area)

Job Overview

We are seeking a creative, patient, and enthusiastic Fashion Club Instructor to lead a fun and educational fashion club for children ages 7–14. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fashion, art, and design who enjoys inspiring creativity and confidence in young learners.

The Fashion Club Instructor will guide participants through hands-on activities exploring fashion design, textiles, patterns, color theory, and sustainability in a safe, supportive, and age appropriate environment. The program aims to foster self-expression, teamwork, basic design thinking, and creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Teach foundational concepts including:

  • Textiles and fabrics (natural vs. synthetic, textures, and uses)
  • Patterns, prints, and shapes
  • Color theory and color mixing
  • Fashion illustration and sketching
  • Basic design processes (idea → sketch → creation)

Facilitate hands-on projects such as:

  • Designing outfits on paper or mannequins
  • Creating textile collages and mood boards
  • Simple sewing, weaving, or fabric manipulation (no advanced machinery required)
  • Upcycling and sustainable fashion projects

Additional Items:

  • Encourage creativity, teamwork, confidence, and positive self-expression
  • Adapt activities to support different age groups and skill levels
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
  • Prepare materials and assist with set-up and clean-up
  • Communicate clearly with program coordinators and, when needed, parents

What Do You Bring?

  • Experience working with children ages 7–14 (teaching, camps, clubs, or childcare)
  • Strong interest in fashion, art, design, or textiles
  • Ability to explain concepts in a simple, fun, and engaging way
  • Patient, encouraging, and organized teaching style
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable leading small groups of children

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Basic sewing or craft skills
  • Experience leading workshops or after-school programs
  • Knowledge of sustainable or ethical fashion concepts
  • Background in art, fashion, education, or recreational programming
