Hours/Schedule: 40 hours per week; flexible hours are required (evenings, mornings, afternoons)
Salary: $50,000-$55,000 annually

Role Summary
The Group Fitness Coordinator supports the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Group Fitness program at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre. This role helps ensure the smooth operation of Group Fitness programming through effective scheduling, instructor coordination, program administration, and ongoing monitoring of class participation and member feedback. Working closely with Fitness leadership, instructors, and other internal teams, the Group Fitness Coordinator supports the delivery and ongoing development of engaging, high-quality programming that responds to member needs and contributes to a positive overall Fitness Centre experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the monthly Group Fitness schedule, including instructor availability, substitutions, class changes, and coverage.
- Support the recruitment, auditioning, onboarding, and orientation of Group Fitness instructors.
- Maintain regular communication with instructors regarding schedules, program updates, expectations, training opportunities, and upcoming initiatives.
- Track and monitor class attendance, participation, member feedback, and program trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and sharing recommendations with Fitness leadership.
- Support the development and implementation of new classes, formats, workshops, and Group Fitness initiatives based on member interests and emerging fitness trends.
- Support instructors in delivering safe, engaging, inclusive, and high-quality member experiences and communicate any performance or program concerns to Fitness leadership as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date instructor records, agreements, certifications, schedules, and required documentation.
- Coordinate and review instructor hours and payroll information, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
- Respond to member questions and feedback related to Group Fitness programming and escalate concerns when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Marketing and internal teams to support program promotions, digital content, special events, and member engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate and support fitness events, workshops, community initiatives, and new member onboarding activities.
- Regularly monitor Group Fitness studios and equipment and communicate any maintenance, cleanliness, safety, or equipment concerns to the appropriate team.
- Assist with program reporting, participation tracking, administrative requirements, and budget-related documentation.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director, Fitness and broader Fitness team to support departmental priorities and the overall operations of the Fitness Centre.
- Perform other related duties as required based on the needs of the department and the JCC.
Qualifications / What You Bring
- 2–3 years of experience in group fitness, fitness programming, recreation, or a related fitness environment.
- A recognized Fitness and/or Group Fitness Certification.
- Experience coordinating programs, schedules, instructors, or fitness-related activities is an asset.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate schedules, maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with instructors, members, and internal teams.
- Knowledge of current fitness trends and an interest in supporting the development of engaging and relevant Group Fitness programming.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
- A positive, approachable, and community-focused attitude with a commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
