Family Services Facilitator – High Holy Days at Beth David Synagogue

Position Overview

Beth David Synagogue is seeking warm, engaging, and organized Family Services Facilitators to lead interactive High Holy Day family services designed for children and their families. The facilitator will create a meaningful, inclusive, and age-appropriate tefillah experience that helps young families connect with the themes and traditions of the High Holy Days through prayer, music, games, and participation. This family service is offered for kids ages 6-12 and their parents and grandparents.

The dates needed for this role are:

Saturday, September 12

Sunday, September 13

Monday, September 21

Saturday, September 26

Sunday, September 27

Saturday, October 3 (from 6 to 8pm including Hakafot)

The timing is: between 9:30am and 12pm including set up and clean up.

Exact service times will be confirmed with the candidate.

 

Responsibilities

Plan and facilitate engaging High Holy Day family services for young children and their families.

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all ages feel comfortable participating.

Incorporate stories, songs, prayers, and interactive activities that reflect themes of the High Holy Days.

Encourage participation from both children and adults throughout the service.

Adapt programming to suit a range of ages and developmental stages.

Prepare any materials required for activities or crafts, if applicable, that are Yom Tov-friendly

Arrive early to set up the space and remain afterward to tidy and reset as needed.

 

Qualifications

Experience working with children and families in educational, camp, synagogue, or community settings.

Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills.

Knowledge of Egalitarian Conservative traditions, prayers, and High Holy Day themes.

Creative, energetic, and comfortable leading interactive programming.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to create an engaging, respectful, and inclusive environment for participants of varying backgrounds and levels of Jewish knowledge.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading family or children's services in a synagogue or Jewish educational setting.

Background in Jewish education, music, youth programming, early childhood education, or a related field.

 

Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience and will be discussed with successful applicants.
