Brief Description:
Beit Rayim Synagogue is York Region’s only Conservative Egalitarian synagogue located in the heart of Vaughan. We are a dynamic congregation dedicated to blending Jewish tradition with a commitment to egalitarian values.
The role of Family Educator is to develop, promote and lead innovative Jewish educational programming centred around the values of our family-oriented, Conservative Egalitarian synagogue through formal and informal experiential learning opportunities. The main priorities of this role will be leading a B’nai Mitzvah program twice per month; a Family Shabbat Experience once per month; and additional multigenerational programming opportunities throughout the year.
This role requires a commitment of approximately 20 hours per month including preparation and attendance. Weekends and evenings are required.

Job Function:
B’nai Mitzvah Program
Key Activities:
Develop, implement and lead the B’nai Mitzvah program (90-minute programs twice each month) from October 2026 to June 2027, in consultation with and under the supervision of the Rabbi. Aspects of the curriculum should include classes for students, workshops for students/parents, guest speakers, field trips, and appropriate community service opportunities with student/parent participation
Oversee the program budget
Maintain program records, obtain and share feedback from participants/parents, and prepare periodic reports with respect to the program
Family Shabbat Experience
Key Activities:
Develop, implement and lead the Family Shabbat Experience (90 minute morning program once per month), in consultation with and under the supervision of the Rabbi. Aspects should include interactive and engaging discussions and activities for youth and their parents/families related to the weekly Torah Parshah, Shabbat rituals and holidays.
Additional Multi-Generational Programming
Key Activities:
Develop and implement educational curriculum for multi-generational participants, in consultation with and under the supervision of the Rabbi, centered around holidays and other opportunities to teach Jewish values and traditions, in both formal and informal ways.

Job Requirement:
Qualifications/Experience
- Educational background in Jewish Studies; a teaching degree is an asset
- Experience leading Jewish youth educational programming (example: Jewish day/supplementary school, summer camp, BBYO, USY)
- Experience in development and implementation of innovative and engaging curricula for all ages
- Familiarity with the rituals of Conservative Egalitarian Judaism
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders (clergy, staff, youth, families, Board members and volunteers)
Strong command of both English and Hebrew languages
