Director, The Toronto Jewish Afterschool Enrichment Hub

Position Overview
You are an educational entrepreneur who will lead the launch of the first Jewish afterschool enrichment hub in Canada, where we will offer the services of a premium after school program with a full, experiential Jewish learning curriculum.
Together with the guidance of the Jewish After School Accelerator (JASA), the array of professionals at Temple Sinai, and the support of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, we will provide Toronto children up to five days a week after school, with transformative camp-style Jewish enrichment, and engage them in Judaism, identity, and community through inclusivity and joy.

You are creative, innovative, and thrive in a position where you have a range of responsibilities. You can move easily from painting with kindergarteners to problem-solving transportation. You love children and partnering with their parents to help them grow and thrive Jewishly. And you love leading a team to make this all happen.
The Director will be the face of this exciting program and responsible for implementing and growing it. The job includes a range of responsibilities from family engagement, marketing, and operations to teaching and managing the teaching team.
The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Teaching and Education Leadership
- Supports teachers with lesson implementation and classroom behaviour management. (The curriculum is fully developed with a wide range of implementation possibilities through our partners at JASA.)
●In our first year (Sept 2026 - June 2027), the Director will also be teaching. In subsequent years with growing enrollment, the role will focus more on administrative leadership than teaching responsibilities.
- Cultivates a positive, hardworking, supportive culture among staff.
- Recruits, hires, and trains teachers and assistants.
●Plans and leads professional development and staff meetings.
●Collaborates with the leadership of Temple Sinai, writ-large, and especially our highly successful Preschool and Religious School.
●Collaborates with other Temple Sinai staff, lay leadership and members.
Family Relationship Management
- Serves as the main point of contact for the program.
- Manages enrollment and student forms.
- Responsible for daily class updates and weekly newsletters to families.
- Communicates with parents about their children's experience.
Operations Management
- Maintains program licensing requirements
- Implements all health and safety protocols daily.
- Manages budget, spending, and grant reporting.
- Oversees classroom material supplies and healthy snack options.
- Liaises with outside vendors related to operations.
Marketing & Recruitment
●Creates relationships with neighbourhood public schools and Jewish families.
●Collaborates with community partners such as PJ Library and the UJA Federation.
●Recruits new families and leads tours.
- Establishes and implements a marketing approach for the promotion of the program.
●Leads PTA meetings, school sponsored events, and other local community events to promote the program and enrollment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Entrepreneurial spirit! Creative thinker! And a sense of humor!
- Energized by working with and for children and their families.
●Highly organized and adept at creating and maintaining systems.
●Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience in a Jewish educational setting with children, ideally aged 4 to 10 yrs old.
- Experience in experiential education settings, such as after school or summer camp.
- Supervisory or managerial experience.
●Commitment to Temple Sinai’s mission.
Benefits
Compensation Range: $70 000-$80 000 commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus comprehensive health benefits, vacation during school closures, paid sick days, and personal days.
