Digital Engagement Coordinator

 

Position type: Summer contract (flexible) located at College/Spadina in downtown Toronto, with some work at various event locations

We are looking for a dynamic coordinator to join our team for summer 2026. The 2026 Ashkenaz Summer Series & Festival will include a 4-part double-bill concert series in Earl Bales Park, featuring a combination of pop, rock, and Jewish roots music bands every second Monday night from July 13 – August 24. The Ashkenaz Festival will feature over 200 artists in 75+ performances and 40,000+ attendees from August 30 – September 6 at various venues around the city from downtown to uptown. The Foundation showcases the work of leading contemporary artists from Canada and around the world working in all artistic disciplines. The Foundation’s mandate and programming encompasses a vast range of pan-Jewish music and art, including Sephardic, Ladino, Falasha and Mizrachi traditions, and also strongly emphasizes fusion and cross-cultural exchange with artists from outside Jewish cultural traditions. The Digital Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the Artistic and Managing Directors on a number of elements related to the 2026 Ashkenaz Festival (Aug 30 – Sept 6) and summer concert series (July/August).

Responsibilities:

The Digital Engagement Coordinator (DEC) will work under the direction of Ashkenaz’s management team on a variety of tasks related to the growth of the Foundation’s digital reach, engagement, and audience development. The DEC will assist with strategy, content creation and day-to-day management of Ashkenaz’s website, e-newsletter, and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube). The DEC will help to develop process and protocols around digital engagement, and work collaboratively with the staff to develop innovative ways to promote our programs and engage new and existing audiences. The DEC will research platforms and software that may be beneficial to the organization; pitch content ideas; draft and post both organic and paid social media content; capture footage, photos and content at summer events and post in real-time; respond to online inquiries and comments in a timely and appropriate manner; implement systems to capture and measure engagement for evaluation and reporting with an understanding of digital metrics and analysis; as well as other related duties that may arise during the contract.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills (both oral & written)
  • Experience working on websites (back end), specifically Wordpress platform
  • Knowledge of email marketing tools (Constant Contact)
  • Proven experience with social media as a marketing tool for business and the arts
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office, email, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and related social media
  • Excellent organizational/time management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail-orientated
  • Great independent research skills
  • Must work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be positive, mature-minded, flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, non-corporate environment
  • Graphic design skills an asset
  • Knowledge of and interest in music, the arts and/or Jewish culture is an asset
