
Child and Youth Worker - Part Time
2026-27 School Year
Salary Range $40,000-$50,000 Annually

Paul Penna DJDS is hiring a half time Child and Youth Worker (CYW) or Behavioural Therapist (BCBA) to join our School Wellness Team and provide support to students in the areas of behaviour management and social-emotional skills development. Reporting directly to the school Social Worker, the CYW or BCBA will build relationships and liaise with families, interdisciplinary team members and school staff, to improve the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of children in our school.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct intervention with students (social skills and behaviour skills coaching and modeling)
- Assisting and supporting school staff with assessing student behaviour and in developing plans that outline strategies to reinforce skill building and school success
- Providing individual behaviour management programs for students in consultation with the classroom teacher, and school Social Worker
- Provide support during crisis, de-escalation, and other high-stress situations.
- Small group instruction
- Documentation (behaviour tracking, progress monitoring)
- Collaborating on goal development
- Identifying needs of supported youth/individuals and participating in the development and implementation of safety plans and growth plans
- Performing other duties as required
Skills Required
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage conflicting and/or competing priorities in an effective and efficient manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent clinical skills, including experience and ability to work with and manage difficult behaviour
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to write legible, clear and concise reports
- Excellent ability to problem solve and make sound decisions in acute situations
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Care Degree and Membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care or Certification in Behaviour Analysis
- Minimum of one year experience working with children
- Experience working in a school environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmental needs (intellectual, emotional, physical, and social) of children and youth
- Crisis Intervention training
