About Canadian Friends of Shalva (CFOS)

Founded in Toronto in 2014, CFOS builds awareness and philanthropic support for Shalva’s work in Israel. With generous partners across the country and around the world, CFOS plays a vital role in advancing inclusion, dignity, and opportunity for individuals of all abilities.

The Opportunity

CFOS seeks an accomplished and mission-driven National Executive Director to lead its fundraising strategy and national development efforts. The successful candidate will bring strong philanthropic and community leadership, shaping a comprehensive growth plan to expand donor engagement, strengthen partnerships, and raise the organization’s national profile. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference while leading a passionate team connected to a global movement of inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic and annual fundraising plans to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts ($25,000+) from individuals, families, and foundations.
  • Engage and inspire volunteer and board leadership across regions; recruit new lay leaders.
  • Plan and manage signature fundraising and donor cultivation events nationwide.
  • Represent Shalva and CFOS to donors, partners, and the wider community as an articulate, inspiring spokesperson.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Shalva’s national office in Jerusalem and global partners.
  • Oversee donor database and reporting systems, ensuring effective stewardship and accountability.
  • Travel across Canada and periodically to Israel as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising and leadership experience.
  • Proven success securing five- and six-figure gifts through relationship-based philanthropy.
  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian Jewish philanthropic community and networks.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic, decisive, and collaborative leadership approach.
  • Skilled in data-informed fundraising and management systems, including Salesforce NPSP and Microsoft Suite.
  • Passion for Shalva’s mission and the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of community life.
