
ASHKENAZ FOUNDATION
Artist Liaison/Coordinator
Position type: Contract position running May to September 6 (including Labour Day Weekend). The position will be flexible and P/T to start, but will ramp up to F/T in July/August. There will also be some minor remote P/T wrap-up work in early September.
We are looking for a dynamic coordinator to join our team for summer 2026. The 2026 Ashkenaz Summer Series & Festival will include a 4-part double-bill concert series in Earl Bales Park, featuring a combination of pop, rock, and Jewish roots music bands every second Monday night from July 13 – August 24. The Ashkenaz Festival will feature over 200 artists in 75+ performances and 40,000+ attendees from August 30 – September 6 at various venues around the city from downtown to uptown. The Foundation showcases the work of leading contemporary artists from Canada and around the world working in all artistic disciplines. The Foundation’s mandate and programming encompasses a vast range of pan-Jewish music and art, including Sephardic, Ladino, Falasha and Mizrachi traditions, and also strongly emphasizes fusion and cross-cultural exchange with artists from outside Jewish cultural traditions. The Artist Liaison will work closely with the Artistic Director on programming and logistics related to performers participating in the 2026 summer programming.
Responsibilities:
Duties will include organizing artist travel, accommodation and hospitality; collecting and editing promotional materials, biographical information and audio-visual material from artists; administering artist contracts and foreign artist tax waivers; preparing artist hospitality kits and schedules; coordinating ground transport, parking, per diems, and other on-site logistics related to participating artists. The Artist Liaison will routinely interact with a variety of arts professionals, including artists/performers, agents/managers, arts programmers, production crew, publicists, graphic designers, web designers, etc.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills (both oral & written)
- Excellent organizational/time management and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Detail-orientated
- Fluency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), e-mail, Internet, database programs, and familiarity with website data management (Wordpress)
- Must work well both independently and as part of a team
- Must be positive, mature-minded, flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, non-corporate environment
- Experience in a similar type of role an asset
- Database knowledge an asset
- Knowledge and interest in music, the arts and/or Jewish culture is an asset
