With Dr. Malka Simkovich
Judaism is often cast as a religion that focuses on the legalistic, ritualistic, and narrow interests of the elected people of Israel. Early Jewish sources, however, present a very different picture, one that expresses no embarrassment about its particularist ideas, and that recognizes no tension between particularism and the notion that God cares equally for all of humankind.
Dr. Malka Simkovich will explore these early sources, and in the process, will offer a new understanding of universalism that can resonate with modern Jews today.
