Join the Toronto Holocaust Museum for a special conversation with mother-son podcast duo, Joel Waldman & Karmela Waldman, in honour of the new book, Surviving the Survivor (2024).

Holocaust survivor and licensed therapist Karmela Waldman shares brutally honest advice about life and death with her son and podcast co-host, Joel Waldman, in his new book. In 2021, the mother and son created a podcast together, which has become a wildly popular true crime hit. Along the way, Joel discovered more about his mother’s past, including her survival in a boys’ Catholic school during the Holocaust in the former Yugoslavia. He was compelled to document his mother’s survival and resilience in this new book. At the heart of Surviving the Survivor lies the exploration of life's most profound questions, including grappling with themes of loss, aging, and change.

This program is intended for descendants of Holocaust survivors and their partners. Program includes a light lunch. Kashrut observed.
