Join us on Sunday, April 30 on at 7:30 p.m. for Lenka Lichtenberg’s Thieves of Dreams: Songs of Theresienstadt's Secret Poetess, at Congregation Darchei Noam.
Award-winning musician Lenka Lichtenberg grew up unaware of her grandmother's talent until she discovered a treasure among her late mother’s possessions: two worn notebooks filled with poems that her grandmother, Anna Hana, wrote between 1940-1945, before and during her incarceration in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Lichtenberg put these powerful words to music resulting in this beautiful, multi-media theatrical concert. The album Thieves of Dreams has risen to the top of the European World Music Radio charts, and has won the 2023 Juno Award in the Global Music of the Year category as well as two nominations for Canadian Folk Music Awards.
