Quebec filmmaker Ken Scott’s comedy-drama is about a mother’s fierce love and determination to help her physically disabled son. Set in 1960s Paris, the film follows Esther, mother to a large family, including her youngest son Roland, who is born with a club foot. Ignoring all doctors’ advice, Esther vows that Roland will walk and enjoy a full, happy life. Exhibiting passion, self-discovery and the lingering influence of a mother’s love, this exuberant, heartrending film is based on the bestselling autobiography by Roland Perez.
This 2025 Canada/France coproduction won the Audience Award at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival last June and was selected as the opening film in several international film festivals.
With the participation of film educator Jeremie Abessira, including a pre-recorded conversation with Roland Perez.
Light refreshments will be served.
