IN-PERSON & ONLINE
Special Shabbat Morning Service with Guest Speaker, The Honourable Harry S. LaForme O.C. & I.P.C.
Saturday, June 6, at 10:00am
During our Shabbat service on June 6, we will be joined for a special presentation by guest speaker, the Honourable Harry S. LaForme, an ally from the Indigenous community and a member of the Alliance of Canadians Combatting Antisemitism (ALCAA).
The Honourable Harry S. LaForme is Anishinaabe and a member of the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation. Amongst his many accomplishments, Harry was the first Indigenous person to be appointed to sit on any appellate court in the history of Canada. He speaks frequently on Indigenous issues, Indigenous law, criminal law, constitutional law and civil and human rights. Harry has received awards in recognition of his commitment to the Rule of Law, civil rights and social justice.
This is a meaningful opportunity for learning, dialogue, and allyship. The morning will also include a D'var Israel by our Shinshin Aviv, and be followed by a Kiddush lunch and Chevrat Torah study.
