Join Us for “Growing Wise” – A Post-Kiddush Workshop on April 19th

We are excited to invite you to a special post-Kiddush program on April 19th called “Growing Wise”. This unique session will explore Jewish perspectives on the process of growing wiser, with a focus on the spiritual and personal growth that comes with life's stages.

Rabbi Tina will be moderating a panel discussion with an inspiring group of guests who will share their expertise and insights:

Dr. Ivan Silver, Specialist in Healthy Aging

Dr. Ari Cuperfain, Geriatric Psychiatry

Ivan Silver
Bio : Professor Emeritus, Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto
 Ivan Silver is a retired geriatric psychiatrist. He also enjoyed a career in health professional education focusing on continuing professional and faculty development. He continues to work part time in an “echo career” as a coach in several programs at the University of Toronto. He enjoys being creative and thinking about the future. Recently, he has explored the integration of arts based visual thinking strategies with his coaching.
He is also leading a new initiative at the university assisting physicians who are transitioning their careers towards retirement. 

Ari Cuperfain
Bio : Ari Cuperfain is a geriatric psychiatry resident at the University of Toronto and will be starting at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health as a geriatric psychiatrist in July. He has clinical and academic interests in substance use disorders in later life. He has authored over 20 publications and is the recipient of numerous awards from organizations such as the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), the American Association of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) and the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry (CAGP). Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active and spending time with family, as well as traveling and relaxing with his family’s chocolate Labrador, who never fails to brighten his day.

Ruth Abrams
Bio : She is a painter/writer whose paintings have exhibited in the United States and Canada. Her poetry and short stories have been showcased on CBC Anthology and published in magazines like Fiddlehead, Tamarack, Branching Out, Room of One’s Own, Descant, and Contemporary Verse 2, as well as in various international anthologies. Painting the Eye in a Butterfly’s Wing, her first collection of poems, was published in 2023.
