Newspapers are valuable in genealogical research because one can find information on births, marriages, deaths, moves, businesses, naturalizations, court cases, and more. Millions of pages of the world’s newspapers are now accessible online, but there is no one place to find them all. In this presentation, Janice will provide an overview of what is available and demonstrate techniques to improve your chances of finding information about your relatives.
Janice M. Sellers is related to actor Peter Sellers and to John of Gaunt, son of a king and father of a king. At least, that is what her grandparents told her. Unfortunately, they were wrong, but that is why she has been researching her family for almost 50 years. She is now a professional genealogist who is passionate about making sure she finds the right pieces to fit the genealogical puzzle. Janice specializes in Jewish, Black, dual citizenship, and newspaper research. She has taught at local and international events and previously worked as an editor and indexer.
