Toba Ajzenstat: “Don’t Believe Everything You Read”. Since 2012, Toba’s research continued to produce conflicting details as to whether her paternal great grandparents were cousins. A sober second review focusing on her earliest 1812 record and one key word proved to be the solution.

Hank Lobbenberg: Shortly after Hank’s parents, refugees from Germany, were married in England in 1940 they were interned as “enemy aliens”. Knowing very little about his mother’s Grunhut family, he chose an unusual research route and contacted Jewish bloggers who could possibly assist him.

Jerry Scherer: Born in Siberia and the son of Holocaust survivors, Jerry always wondered about his parents’ experience during the war and upon their arrival in Canada. Innovatively, he received permission to view the video testimony of forced labourer survivors’ stories and found additional materials produced by the Red Army. He also researched JIAS records such as the “Tailor Project”.
